Washington, UT – Alice Ann (Pugh) Yeargin, age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 11, 2026 at Primrose Retirement Community in Washington, UT where she lived since July, 2024. Alice, fondly referred to as “Nana”, is survived by all five of her children: Harry Alvin Yeargin, Jr. (Holly), Donna Lynn Head (Koko), David William Yeargin, Michael Scott Yeargin (Lisa) and Kimberly Ann Ford (Tyler). She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Joseph William Pugh and Alice Elmira Hamilton, her brother Joseph William Pugh, Jr., her husband Harry Alvin “Al” Yeargin, Sr. and her granddaughter Alisha Ann Head. Alice was born on July 10, 1937 in New Bern, N.C., the youngest of two children. As the daughter of a Navy Chief Petty Officer, she moved often and ultimately settled in Jacksonville, FL during high school where her father was stationed at NAS Jax. It was there she met a tall, handsome sailor named “Al” Yeargin who was playing football for the Navy team. The two quickly fell in love and Al proposed. Alice graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1955 and they were married on June 4, 1955—the day after Alice’s graduation. They made Jacksonville, FL their home where they welcomed and raised their five children. Alice and Al, Sr. were blessed to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary in June, 2020 before Al, Sr. passed away later that year. They enjoyed a long, full life together raising their family, serving others and traveling. Alice was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served as Ward and Stake Relief Society Presidents, Stake Primary President and Ward Young Women President and in numerous other ward and stake callings over the years as well as an Ordinance worker at the Atlanta and Orlando Temples. Her family and friends meant the world to her as did her most important role as a wife and mother raising her family. Her family motto: “Seven is Heaven.” She believed that Families are Forever.

Alice will be interred with her beloved Al, Sr. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery following a Committal Ceremony to be held there on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory may to made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Philanthropies at:
