Barbara Anne Hazen Dorn October 31, 1948 – August 21, 2025

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara Anne Hazen Dorn on August 21, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on October 31, 1948, Barbara lived a life filled with love, learning, and compassion.

She earned her B.A. in Literature from Eckerd College (1973), an M.A. in Education from the University of South Florida (1978), and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Union Institute (1990). Over the years, Barbara’s professional journey reflected her diverse passions: she worked as an elementary school teacher, a horse trainer, and ultimately a clinical psychologist.

Barbara loved reading, traveling, camping, visiting national parks, and sports — especially softball and baseball, the former of which she proudly coached. She also gave back to her community, volunteering for various organizations in Florida, including the Red Cross and serving as a Guardian ad Litem, where she dedicated her time to supporting and advocating for others. Through her work, interests, and kindness, she touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on those around her.

She is survived by her partner, George Burditt of St. George, Utah; her children, John (Amy) Myers of St. Petersburg, FL, Molly (Vanessa Poe) Myers of Palm Springs, CA, and Taylor Prescott of Stone Mountain, GA; her brothers, Jack (Dawn) Hazen, David (Donna) Hazen, and Raymond (Susan) Hazen; four grandchildren, Jacob, Bradley, Amanda, and Ava Myers; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She will also be lovingly remembered by her beloved dog, Baby.

Private gatherings will be held to celebrate Barbara’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.

Barbara’s light, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
