Barbara Joe
Story
July 1, 1932 – March 21, 2026
Barbara Joe Story was born July 1, 1932 and passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. She was the daughter of Walter Russell and Lena Pearl Dikes and the last of their 13 children to join them. Barbara lived a very full life for 93 years. She had 10 children herself and they gave her many grandchildren and great grandchildren to love and cherish. She treated and loved many like they were her own. Her life started deep in the southern hills of Tennessee. Many of her stories made life back then seem like total bliss, other stories make it sound terrifying to say the least. She was young when she left Tennessee to give her children a new life in Wyoming. She spent a lot of her life cleaning homes in Casper and making a life for herself, many of her children saw her hard work and dedication and followed in her footsteps becoming known in their communities for their housekeeping and homemaking skills. After her retirement she spent her time with her friends at the local senior center, making Afghans for her friends and family, and spending time on her sewing machine. Everyone she met she always had a bag of pot holders to give them. Barbara spent her time on earth caring for others and loving deeply. She always believed in love and forgiveness. She believed God gave her this time and this family and always did her best to show God she saw and cherished his blessing. She knew how fast life moves and told everyone she met “life goes by fast so you better enjoy every year, every day”. She will be remembered every day by the people she touched the lives of. She will be deeply missed by friends and family, who look forward to meeting her again.
