Carma Jean “Jeannie” Staheli Christensen
September 9, 1944 - May 18, 2025 Washington, Utah
On May 18, 2025 our beautiful and loving mother, Carma Jean “Jeannie” Staheli Christensen, was reunited with her sweetheart Lynn and daughter Joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a cherished friend, and a selfless soul. We can hardly imagine a world without her constant, unconditional love and radiant light.
Jeannie was born on September 9, 1944 in St. George, Utah to Woodrow and Carma Hafen Staheli. She was the sixth of eight children and the first girl after five boys. She was a proud resident of Washington City and had deep roots in southern Utah with a legacy as rich as the red rocks that surround it. She and her late husband, Lynn, built a beautiful life together as the parents of six children. Family has always been at the heart of Jeannie’s life.
As a young girl, Jeannie was known for her boundless energy, vibrant spirit, and strong work ethic. She threw herself into life serving as class president, girls’ athletic manager, and participating in drill team, cheerleading, and intramurals. Her love for horses led her to being crowned both Dixie Roundup Queen and Miss Rodeo Utah, where she was honored with the title of Miss Congeniality.
Jeannie graduated from Dixie High School, Dixie Jr. College and Utah State University earning her bachelor's degree in Secondary Physical Education. She went on to teach P.E. for 25 years at Washington and Sunset Jr. High Schools in Ogden, Utah as well as Hurricane and Pine View Middle Schools. Her dedication to students and education left a lasting impression on countless young lives and the faculty members she worked with.
While raising a family and supporting her husband's coaching career, Jeannie was also actively involved in her children’s schools, her community and her church. She was PTA President, participated in the Cancer, Heart and Pennies by the Inch drives, collected data for US Census, coached softball, was a Den mother in the Scouts, and held numerous church callings including Primary President and Young Women’s President, sports and camp director and visiting teacher. She often said that all of these experiences made her life rich and deeply rewarding.
Jeannie lived a life defined by unwavering kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. Through every season, she carried herself with grace, resilience and unshakable faith. Her greatest joy came from serving her family and others, freely giving of her time and resources, not for recognition, but purely out of love. Jeannie had a rare and remarkable gift: the ability to make those around her feel truly seen, valued, and loved. Her vibrant personality and beautiful smile could light up any room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her children Jena (Harold) Nelson, Jed (Amy) Christensen, Jill (Brad) Baker, Hammer (Alicia) Christensen, son in law Ben (Kati) Lindquist, Josh (Karisa) Christensen; 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way. She is also survived by her older brothers George (Kathy) and Ralph (Katherine) Staheli and two younger sisters Sandra (Keith) Turnbeaugh and Nancy (Russell) McAllister. Jeannie is preceded in death by her husband Lynn, daughter Joy, brothers Kay, Frank and Stan, 2 grandchildren, and her parents.
