Chad Nelson Miskin (71) passed quietly from this world on February 9, 2025, at his Washington, Utah, home.
Chad was born on April 26, 1954, to Merlin Ruben Miskin and Carmen Rhoda Nelson Miskin. He was raised on a farm in Coltman, Idaho. He received an Associate degree in Speech and Drama from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Communications from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Oakland, California Mission. He was active in the thespian club in high school. In college, he acted in multiple plays and worked behind the scenes working on sets. He continued to occasionally act in plays in Nauvoo, Illinois, and Brigham City, Utah. He enjoyed playing racquetball and baseball. He loved pepper (just like his dad) and Dr. Pepper.
He met LuAnn Cornelius at BYU. They were married on August 18, 1979, in the Oakland, California Temple. Together they raised four children. They have lived in Provo, Utah; Fort Madison, Iowa; Nauvoo, Illinois; Brigham City, Utah; South Jordan, Utah; and Washington, Utah.
He worked for Sheaffer Pen Company as Manager of Communications and Training in Fort Madison, Iowa, and Schneider Transportation as a Training and Development Manager in Green Bay, Wisconsin. There he learned to drive an 18-wheeler. He worked most of his career at Morton Thiokol (later ATK) in the Human Resources Department in various capacities, mostly training and development. He loved to train and teach. He worked for a short period of time for MediConnect as Human Resources Director in South Jordan, Utah. After retirement, he tried his hand at selling cars at Jerry Seiner Kia in South Jordan.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a disciple of Christ. He served wherever he was asked, including Elder’s Quorum President and counselors, Bishopric Counselor, Young Men’s Advisor, Cub Scout Master, Teacher, Ward Missionary and Temple Ordinance Worker. He loved people and serving them.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Merlin; Mother, Carmen; and sister, Judy Miskin Fenton. He is survived by his wife LuAnn Miskin and his children Joshua (Cori); Aaron (Stevie); Andrea (Summer) Miskin-Youngblood; and Danielle (Patrick) Lamoureux; along with 13 grandchildren; his siblings Susan (David) Crafts; Stephen (Sandra) Miskin; and Jann (Mark) Arenaz.
A viewing will be held at the McArthur Funeral Home, 160 West 700 South, St. George, Utah, on Friday, February 13, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
A graveside service will be held at the Washington City Cemetery, 475 Park View Drive, Washington, Utah, on Saturday, February 14, 2025, at 11:30 am.
A luncheon and memorial will be held at the Northbridge Ward chapel, 1080 West Arlington Street, Washington, Utah, for family and friends at 1:00 pm.
