Deanna Layne Simmons November 30, 1962 – June 15, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Deanna Layne Simmons. She passed away peacefully surround by her family on June 15, 2026, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 63 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Deanna was born on November 30, 1962, in Logan, Utah, to Jerry and Jeanne Layne. She was raised with a strong work ethic, deep faith, and a love for family that would become the foundation of her life.

On June 8, 1983, Deanna married the love of her life, Kevin Simmons, in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, service, and adventure. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Tara, Kelsie, Darrin, McKell, and Camber.

Deanna was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, she faithfully served in many callings, and loved giving of her time to others. Her testimony of Jesus Christ was evident not only in her words but in the way she loved and served those around her. Her love for, and discipleship to our Savior was unwavering.

Deanna was known for being fun, hardworking, spiritual, and a true go-getter. She had an incredible ability to show up for others, often putting their needs before her own. Whether someone needed encouragement, a helping hand, or simply a listening ear, Deanna was there.

Professionally, she was both entrepreneurial and determined. She ran a dance studio with her sister Denise for many years in Cache Valley. She also successfully owned a business creating beautiful children's hair bows before later returning to school, earning her degree, and building a career as a radiology technologist.

Among her many achievements, Deanna completed more than a dozen marathons, including qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon twice. Her strength, discipline, and determination were evident in every aspect of her life. Deanna and Kevin loved traveling and visited 27 countries together.

While she cherished her roles as wife and mother, her favorite title was "Nana." Nothing brought her greater joy than her grandchildren. Even after a long day of work, she would eagerly get down on the floor to play with them, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and fun. Her grandchildren adored her, and each one knew they were deeply loved.

Deanna is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Simmons; her children, Tara and Ryan West, Kelsie and Brandon Staley, Darrin and Lindsay Simmons, McKell and Wesley Bledsoe, and Camber and Jake Kolu; and her cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Molly, Kason, Dax, Melissa, Tav, Ari, Tallon, Tenley, Triss, Tabitha, Callahan, Georgia, Cohen, and Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanne Layne, and her father-in-law, Dale Simmons.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Deanna's legacy of faith, service, kindness, and unconditional love will continue through the countless lives she touched. We will remember her laughter, her strength, her unwavering devotion to family, and the way she made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Boulder Ridge Stake Center at 1762 South River Road, Saint George. Another visitation will occur at the same location on Saturday, June 27th from 9:00 to 10:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM.

Until we meet again, we will carry your love with us always. We love you, sweetheart. We love you, Mom. We love you, Nana.
