Delta "Dee" Ono passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026 in St. George, Utah.

Born in California and raised in Missouri, Dee graduated from Rich Hill High School before pursuing her passion for nursing. She went on to graduate from Burge Protestant School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri, in 1970.

Dee led a remarkably rich and fulfilling professional life. She began her career at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, before moving to Shiprock, New Mexico, to serve with the Indian Health Service. Her nursing career took her across the country-working at Duke University in North Carolina, in Lewiston, Idaho, and on Kauai, Hawaii, before returning briefly to California. She ultimately made her home in Kona, Hawaii, where she spent the remainder of her career and eventually retired as Vice President of Operations at West Hawaii Home Health Services.

It was in Shiprock, New Mexico, that she met her future husband, Ken Ono. They married and traveled together for many years, raising two daughters: Michelle, who was born in Hawaii, and Julie, who was born in California. After settling in Kona and co-founding West Hawaii Home Health Services, Dee and Ken parted ways in 2014.

Dee was deeply devoted to her patients, and her community. In addition to her professional accomplishments, she gave her time to local youth programs, schools, 4-H clubs, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. She was also dedicated to supporting others through her work with the American Cancer Society and the Kona Hongwanji Cancer Support Group, as well as Hawaii Association for wound, ostomy, and Continence Care.

She is survived by her sisters, Ellen, Doris, and Elizabeth; her brother, Mack; daughters Michelle and Julie; grandchildren, Naina, Nia, and Eleanor; and many dear friends, former colleagues, and individuals whose lives she touched throughout her years of service and caregiving.
