Obituary
Diane Bytheway Burton
December 30, 1948 – January 11, 2025
Diane Bytheway Burton, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in the final stages of Parkinson’s disease, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 30, 1948, to Ralph and Ruth Bytheway, Diane grew up with a gentle spirit that stayed with her throughout her life. On October 1, 1970, she married David Burton, beginning a 55-year partnership marked by devotion, loyalty, and quiet, enduring love. Together they raised three sons—Matt, Brett, and Ryan—who were the joy and purpose of her life.
Diane worked for many years as a secretary, known for her reliability, kindness, and the warmth she brought to every workplace. But her greatest passion was her family. She poured herself into her children and grandchildren, supporting them through every stage of life with patience, generosity, and unconditional love.
Diane loved animals. Horses were her life’s hobby and passion. For over 30 years Diane owned one or more of them. She loved taking care of them and really enjoyed the trail rides.
Diane and Dave were fortunate to see many beautiful places around the world together, creating memories that they treasured. Yet, no matter where they traveled, Diane’s favorite place was always home—where family gathered, laughter lived, and where her heart felt most at peace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruth Bytheway, her sister Linda, and her brother Steven. She leaves behind her devoted husband David, their sons Matt, Brett, and Ryan, and all those whose lives were touched by her kindness.
Diane was, quite simply, as nice and giving a person as one could ever hope to meet. Her legacy is the love she cultivated, the goodness she gave freely, and the gentle way she moved through the world. She will be deeply missed.
