Don M. Young, age 82, Passed away on May 28, 2024 at his St George home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 31, 1942 in Wallsburg, Utah to Lillie Evelyn Mace Young and Brigham Young. Don married Frances Lee (Sleight) Young on August 13,1966. Don grew up on a family farm where he learned to appreciate hard work, family togetherness and the beauty of the outdoors.
In his early years he attended Wallsburg grade School, Wasatch High and Utah Tech School before serving our country as an Airman Aircraft Engine Mechanic in the United States Navy. After being Honorably discharged from the Navy Don married the love of his life, Frances. The two of them welcomed daughters Donnette, Stephanie, Jamie and later the baby of the family, son, Jeremy. Tragically in1999 their daughter Jamie was killed in a car accident while living in Nevada, Don's career was spent working in various Mines In Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming and Serving on the State Board of Mining of Wyoming. He finished his Working career as the Public Works Director of Midway, Utah, retiring to St. George where he lived for 21 years surrounded by friends and neighbors within the Bloomington Community.
He happily served out numerous callings in the Bloomington 8th Ward fulfilling multiple volunteer assignments for the congregation. However, his true love after Frances was hunting and fishing, which he did with his father, his sons, grandkids and fishing buddies.
Don loved and adored every member of his family unconditionally and cherished every minute that he got to spend with them, never wanting them to leave.
Don is survived by his wife of 59 years Frances, three children, Donnette (Vince) Maloco, Stephanie (Eric) Trujillo, Jeremy (Tausha) Young, ten grand children, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Brig and Evelyn Young, his beautiful teenage daughter Jamie Rae, three brothers, Junior, Kent and Jimmy, two sisters Mary Butters and Cheryl Johnson. His father and mother-in-law, William and Opal Sleight.
