Hans Joachim Latschkowski, beloved husband, father, community leader, and faithful servant of God, passed away at home on May 10, 2026, at the age of 84.
Hans was born on September 27, 1941, in Berlin, Germany. He spent his childhood in Germany before immigrating to the United States at the age of 11, where he built a life defined by faith, family, hard work, and service to others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Effie Latschkowski; his son, Cory Latschkowski; daughter- in-law Misti Latschkowski; and his sister Erika Ruth Henderson, whom he loved deeply and supported with unwavering devotion throughout his life.
Hans was an independent businessman whose work in various business services, real estate, property development and management reflected his dedication, vision, and strong work ethic. Beyond his professional life, he devoted countless hours to serving his communities through participation on city councils and through civic involvement aimed at improving the places where he lived and worked.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hans dedicated many years to service within his local congregation and as a temple ordinance worker. His faith was central to his life and guided the way he treated others—with humility, patience, compassion, and kindness.
Hans found joy in health and fitness, time with his family, sweet treats, and loved watching action films. He was known for his dry humor and diplomatic nature, often meeting life’s challenges with a joke or a lighthearted comment that brought comfort and positivity to those around him. While productivity was his routine, he often joked “I don’t do mornings.”
Above all else, Hans was deeply devoted to his family. He took seriously his role as husband, father, and leader in his home, striving always to model hard work, service, empathy, integrity, and intentional living. He will be remembered as a humble and thoughtful man whose quiet strength, steady faith, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
His legacy of service, faith, humor, and love will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service honoring his life will be held on May 23, 2026, at the Church located on 446 E. Magnum Rd. Washington, Utah, 84780.
