Janice Kay (DeYoung) Skuppin, passed away and was set free from cancer on Monday , May 11, 2026 with the love and blessings of her friends and family.
Jan entered into this world on January 13, 1943 as the oldest child of Carl H. And Aloha DeYoung. Jan attended and graduated from West High School, during that time she met her future husband. On December 16, 1961, Jan became the happiest woman alive when she became the bride of Darrell Richard Skuppin.
A Nursing degree from Westminster College led her into a rewarding career that she furthered by becoming one of the first Nurse Practitioners while working in the field of OBGYN. Jan later pursued her interest in research and became a lead in Cardiovascular Genetic Research for the University of Utah. Through hard work and intelligent planning Jan and Darrell were able to reach an early retirement allowing them time to live, love and travel together.
Jan was a vibrant outgoing woman filled with knowledge, love and talent. One of her greatest loves was creating miniature reproductions. Her favorite was the building of structures such as houses and shops in the 1/48 scale. Jan was a lifetime member of N.A.M.E., the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. She held many titles and filled many roles while creating and sharing her love of minis. She touched the lives of so many in the mini community and formed some of her deepest bonds and friendships through N.A.M.E.
Jan alongside Darrell, raised their children in the best of environments. They provided for all of the families needs and so many desires. They taught us how to be strong, kind, respectful and hard working. They held us up when we needed it and let us fall when needed. They were always there supporting us during our lives.
Jan was proceeded in death by her adoring husband Darrell and is survived by her cat Annie (the favorite daughter), son Todd (Salt Lake) and her daughter Jennifer, wife of James (Ivins). Her grandchildren are Bailey (Todd) and Ashton (Jennifer). The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Jan's caregivers at Legacy Village, Hallmark private care and Renew Hospice, each one of you made such a difference with your care and concern for her and for our family, you touched her heart and ours.
