Jeffrie Harry Lundin passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 73, after long-standing complications from multiple strokes he had dealt with over the years. He was surrounded by his favorite people and his biggest fans - his wife, kids and grandkids.
Jeff was born December 20, 1952, to Harry and LouJean Atkin Lundin. He lived in St. George his whole life and took tremendous pride in his red dirt roots- he was a Dixie boy through and through. Growing up surrounded by his siblings and his neighborhood friends, the Black Hill was his playground. He was a standout athlete at Dixie High School, playing football, baseball, and basketball, graduating with the class of 1971. He also went on to play baseball at Dixie College. He served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the state of Washington. After returning from his mission, he and Laurie Bowler were sealed in the Temple on February 21, 1975.
Jeff and his dad, Harry, owned and operated Dixie Diesel Service together for decades. Their business was built on good old-fashioned hard work and consideration. Through the years he had many loyal employees and customers that came through their door. Jeff never lost his love for sports — baseball especially, and passed that on to his family. There was rarely a time when a game wasn’t on the TV at the Lundin home.
Jeff befriended individuals from every corner of town—coaching baseball, raising livestock at The Corral (horses, pigs, chickens, goats, cows and even ostriches) and faithfully answering the call as a St. George City volunteer firefighter for 25 years. He served in many church callings, and was particularly dedicated to his home teaching families and to the youth in many different capacities. He and Laurie enjoyed their time serving in the baptistry of the St. George and Red Cliffs Temples. He had literally hundreds of friends and acquaintances, and it’s no wonder — he was extremely generous, friendly, fun, witty and always willing to jump in and contribute wherever he was needed.
He made sure a lifetime of memories was created traveling to California, Lake Powell, and Lake Mead with Alan Jackson and The Eagles playing on repeat. He was a notorious Sugar Daddy, constantly spoiling grandkids (and his niece Addie) with cash and gifts. He loved nothing more than watching his kids and grandkids play and perform and would drop everything to show up in support. Jeff was loved and admired by his numerous nieces and nephews. His grandkids (and many others) consider him the “G.O.A.T” (Greatest Of All Time).
Jeff is survived by his sisters; Cathy (Bob) Bean, Judy (Garn) Turner, and Sherrie (Tracy) Carlson. His wife of 51 years, Laurie; his five children, Amy (Derrick) Haslem, Rachel (Dennis) Larkin, Vince (Jill) Lundin, Abby (Bronson) Tatton, and Matt (Sarah) Lundin; his 18 (almost 19!) grandkids; and his 3 (almost 4!) great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Craig.
We are grateful for the outpouring of love and well wishes from so many people in our lives. We are especially grateful for Jeff’s lifelong friends who were by his side until the very end. A special thank you to the loving care he received the last 2 months from those at Oasis Senior Living and Dixie Hospice. Most of all, we want to thank our mom for her constant love and devoted care of our dad. She faithfully cared for him every day and rarely left his side. Jeff’s memory and spirit will continue to endure in the hearts and lives of his expanding posterity.
