Kenneth Monroe Graff, age 82, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, returned to his heavenly home on April 22, 2025, due to recent health complications.
Ken was born on December 15, 1942, in St. George, Utah, to Wanda Russell and Glenn R. Graff. He was the fifth of six children and grew up in the heart of St. George, where he graduated from Dixie High School in 1961. Soon after, he answered the call to serve his country as a proud member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His military journey began at Fort Ord, California, and continued at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he trained in jungle warfare in preparation for deployment. Just weeks before his scheduled departure, President Lyndon B. Johnson declined a request for additional troops, and Ken was reassigned to Europe. He went on to serve in western Germany and Verdun, France, near the historic Maginot Line. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1966, he returned to his hometown.
Ken began his professional life in the automotive industry, working at Dixie Auto Parts under Kay Heaton. After nearly a decade, he partnered with close friends Lamar Miller and Keith Averett to open ABC Auto Parts, where he spent the next 37 years. Known for his helpful nature and genuine kindness, Ken was the kind of man who didn’t hesitate to install a part himself or stay late to help a customer. He built not just a business, but a legacy of trust, integrity, and friendship.
In addition to his career, Ken dedicated over 40 years to the City of St. George as a volunteer firefighter. He cherished the brotherhood and deep bonds formed within the fire department, and he was honored for his decades of selfless service.
On March 23, 1974, Ken married Jan Snow in Santa Clara, Utah. Though they later divorced, their union brought forth a family that remained the joy and focus of Ken’s life. A devoted father and grandfather, he found his greatest happiness supporting and cheering on his children and grandchildren in every aspect of their lives.
Ken was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in numerous callings over the years, but especially loved his time as a Scoutmaster, helping many young men—including his own sons—earn their Eagle Scout awards.
A true outdoorsman, Ken found peace and joy in nature. He treasured hunting and fishing trips with family and friends, especially the annual deer camps, which were filled with laughter, stories, and lifelong memories.
In his later years, Ken embraced adventure, traveling the world with the Classy Chicken Tour Group. He considered this chapter of life his “golden years” and treasured the memories made and friendships formed along the way.
Throughout his life, Ken was a man of principle, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness. He believed in hard work, simple service, and taking care of others. His legacy will be remembered not in grand gestures but in countless small acts of love, loyalty, and respect.
Ken is survived by his loving children: Kason (Kristi), Kade (McCall), and Kimberly (Tyson) Feller, all of St. George, Utah. He is also survived by his
cherished grandchildren: Jaxon, Jacee, Jessica, Briggs, Chezney, Cort, Lanie, Cooper, Kallie, Libby, Remmi; and by his brother, Darrell (Joyce) Graff of Ogden, Utah, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Wanda Graff; stepfather, Jacob T. Truman; brothers Russell, Dorian (Lou), and Stan; sister, Glenna; brother-in-law, Dale Frehner; and sister-in-law, Betty Graff.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Legacy Assisted Living Center for their dedicated care and kindness. A special thank you also goes to Laurie Brecken at Revere Health Cardiology for her exceptional support and attentiveness throughout Ken’s health journey.
