Manuel Eduardo Araque León

March 31, 1941 – September 29, 2026

Manuel Eduardo Araque León, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 29, 2026, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 85.

Eduardo was born on March 31, 1941, in Quito, Ecuador. He was a man of deep faith who loved his family, music, friendship, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975, where he faithfully served in many leadership positions, including as a bishop, in the stake presidency, and in the stake mission presidency. His faith and service were an important part of his life and the legacy he leaves to his family.

Eduardo shared almost 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Guillermina Araque, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survived by: His beloved wife, Guillermina Araque; his children, Blanca Martineau and her husband, Wyatt, Flor Haroldsen’s husband, Michael, Bella Elizabeth DeSouza and her husband, John, and his beloved son, David Araque; nine grandchildren; and more than 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Charito Guamba; his beloved niece, Rosita Flores, and nephew, Alberto Narváez, who were like his own children and held a particularly special place in his heart; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him dearly and whose lives were blessed by his kindness, generosity, and unconditional love.

Preceded in death by: His beloved daughter, Flor Haroldsen (“Florcita”); his sister, Blanca Piedad Narváez; and his parents-in-law, María Isabel Menéndez Arias and Luis Guillermo Menéndez Suárez, along with other cherished family members and loved ones.

Eduardo had a lifelong love of music and especially enjoyed playing his guitar with his dear friends, who were dearly loved by the family. His music, laughter, stories, and love of family created treasured memories that will continue through generations.

His testimony of Jesus Christ and his belief in the eternal nature of families brought him great comfort throughout his life. His favorite hymns included “I Stand All Amazed,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Come Thou Fount,” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”

Eduardo’s greatest legacy is the love he gave to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family finds comfort in the knowledge that through Jesus Christ, families can be together forever.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:30PM at McArthur Mortuary in St. George, Utah, a visitation will take place before the funeral from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM followed by interment at Tonaquint Cemetery.
