Myron Ray Wood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, surrounded by family. He was 81 years old.
Myron was born on June 26, 1944, in Rexburg, Idaho, and was raised in Tetonia, Idaho, where he learned early the value of hard work, honesty, and doing things the right way. He was the son of Clarence and Goldie Wood, who instilled in him the principles that guided his life.
Myron proudly served six years in the National Guard and was in Vietnam, an experience that shaped his sense of duty, resilience, and quiet strength. He carried that service with humility and did not seek recognition, but it was an important part of who he was.
Myron was married to Regena Roberts for over 61 years, a partnership built on commitment, loyalty, and love. Together they raised five children: Shellie (Darren Ridge), Cindy (Vince Bishop), Becky (Ephraim Aigbedo), Mike (Katrina Shupe), and Kevin (Maliza Smith). His family meant everything to him.
He was blessed with a large and loving family, including 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy and pride.
Myron is survived by his brother Rodney, and his sisters Carol, Lorraine, and Barbara. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary.
He had a great sense of humor, could be ornery at times — hence his nickname “Smiley” — and enjoyed teasing and laughing with those he loved. He worked hard, loved his family deeply — and was proud to note that he once got a bogey. Beneath his humor was a deep, steady love for his family, shown through consistency, loyalty, and always being there when he was needed.
Myron spent many years as a furniture business owner, working alongside his brother Gary at Hanson Furniture in Rexburg, Idaho, and also installing carpet. He took great pride in his work and was known as a man who was fair, honest, and dependable. He believed in treating people right, standing by his word, and earning respect through integrity and effort.
Myron will be remembered as a man who worked hard, lived honestly, served his country, and cared deeply for those around him. His example and values will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
The family is grateful for the kindness, love, and support shown during this time.
