Patsy (Pat) Rae Peters, beloved wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on May 27, 2025, at home in Hurricane, Utah, with family by her side.

She was born on June 27, 1935, to Kathleen and Ray Lebbs in Omaha, Nebraska. She moved to California as a youngster with her mother, Kathleen and sister, Irene.

Pat met her future husband, Bert Peters, when she was 13 years old and they were married 6 years later on September 4, 1954, in California. They lived in Washington State (Olympia) and California (Los Angeles, Newbury Park, and Bishop) before moving to Hurricane, Utah in 2001. Throughout their life together, they enjoyed numerous camping trips as they raised their children and traveled extensively to Korea, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Switzerland, Germany, France, and Hawaii.

Pat is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bert, her daughter, Nancy (Frank) from Victorville, California, and her son, Brian (Kristin) from Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Ray, her mother Kathleen, her sister Irene, and her daughter Deborah.

Pat was a seamstress in her early days working for interior designers in the Los Angeles area and in Bishop and Mammoth, California. As an avid quilter, she was extremely admired by the quilting community across the Western US and beyond. She has won awards for her hand applique and hand quilting, winning over 30 awards for Best of Show and 1st Place, as well as Viewer’s Choice and Judge’s Choice numerous times in quilt shows from California to Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. She has 3 quilts featured in the book “500 Traditional Quilts” by Karey Patterson Bresenham. Pat was a member and served as President of the Calico Quilters in Bishop, California in 1994, 1995, 2000 and 2001. After moving to Hurricane, Utah, she joined the Dixie Quilt Guild in St. George, Utah and taught multiple classes in quilting techniques and serving as President for several years. She helped grow the membership of the Dixie Quilt Guild, starting at under 10 members, to over 200 members. She was instrumental in starting the biennial Dixie Quilt Show where she was the featured quilter multiple times. Her fellow quilters have observed first-time viewers of her quilts brought to tears due to the artistry and attention to every detail of her amazing creations.

Bert and Pat enjoyed their friends and celebrated St Patrick’s Day by hosting a yearly party serving traditional Irish dishes and Irish Coffee. She was a dedicated wife, a loving and supportive mother, an amazing mother-in-law, and a billiards playing grandma. She was surrounded by all of her family the month before her passing, enjoying the games, stories, slide shows and laughter.

The family would like to thank the amazing caregivers from Dixie Hospice and  McArthur Funeral Home for their services.
