Paulette Cunningham Obituary
December 24, 1951 - March 14, 2026 - Our amazing Paulette was a free spirit who never placed limits on herself. She refused to conform to expectations or fit into any societal box. She lived life on her own terms, with courage, determination, and compassion.
She loved fiercely and worked tirelessly to achieve her goals. She was successful not only professionally, but also as a loyal friend and as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In every role, she gave her very best, and those close to her felt her love always.
She married her soul mate, David Cunningham, and together they built a family rooted in love and adventure. The two of them experienced the world through exploring all that life had to offer. They traveled as much as possible, from gem hunting at Topaz Mountain, beach combing in Oregon, and sailing the Panama Canal. They included family and friends as much as possible, gathering memories and friendships along the way. We will always cherish our family trips to the mountains, deserts, Hawaii, and every amusement park we could find. Paulette never found an adventure ride or rollercoaster that could best her.
Dave and Paulette skied, hiked, climbed, boated, off-roaded, and whatever other experience was in front of them at the time. When their children and grandchildren took on another adventure, so did Paulette and Dave. They learned how to rock climb with their children at a time in life when many are content with a lazy boy chair. Furry friends always joined the adventures.
She found joy in caring for others. Her circle of care and influence extended far beyond her biological family. She gathered those who needed a warm meal, a friend, a surrogate mother, a counselor or just a place to be themselves. She loved to share through her cooking and hosting unforgettable holiday gatherings. Some of our favorite memories are of meals around a festive table or around the campfire, with her favorite dog curled up at her feet. She loved reading and playing board games, which she always won because she was the smartest person at the table.
She leaves behind a legacy of cherished traditions, treasured recipes, and countless unforgettable memories. We will forever be grateful for her love, her friendship, and her warrior spirit.
She strived every day to be better, to love more deeply, and to continue having adventures with the people she loved. She made us all better simply by being herself.
She was the loving soulmate of Dave, the proud mother of Wade (Diane) and Cristal (Lance). Her grandchildren brought her great joy-Candy, Alex (Devin), Samuel, Abigail, and Rhea—and her great-grandchildren, Dutch and Weston, whom she adored deeply.
No formal services are planned at this time. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
We are comforted knowing she is reunited with Wade, Diane, Candy, and her beloved fur babies. You made us all better, and we love you—always.
