Steven Ray Green
September 22, 1959 – February 16, 2026
Steven Ray Green, 66, of Santa Clara, Utah, passed away on February 16, 2026.
Steven was born September 22, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ray and Carma Green. He attended high school in Cedar City and later earned a business degree from Southern Utah University. In 1981, he married Sally Roberts, and together they welcomed three children: Holly, Jonathan, and Austin. Though their marriage later ended, they shared the blessing of raising their three children, who remained a central part of Steven’s life.
Later, Steve met Shelly Toomey. They were married on February 17, 1990, and built a beautiful life together. Steven and Shelly had two daughters, Heather and Rachel. Shelly was the love of his life, and he adored her deeply. He never passed a beach without writing “Steve loves Shelly” in the sand — even if it was on the same island
Steve began his career in sales but later made the bold decision to become an ironworker — a move his dad initially thought was crazy. He was able to use the knowledge he earned as an ironworker when he eventually transitioned into working for a metal building manufacturer, where he spent 33 years in the industry. He retired in September 2025 as a National Account Sales Manager, proud of the growth he had achieved and the relationships he built along the way.
Steve lived by simple but powerful mottos: “Enjoy the journey,” “Life’s too short,” and he believed there was always a “reason to celebrate.” Family birthdays and holidays were sacred to him. He loved gathering his people together and marking life’s moments.
He loved traveling and seeing new things, seeking out adventures and appreciating the beauty of everything - especially sunsets and sunrises. Nature grounded him. Morning walks were his ritual. His love language was quality time. He was always present. He always came outside to watch you leave and to say goodbye.
Steve loved animals, especially dogs, and was known for bringing stray dogs home as a child. He loved golf, making up games, and making up songs. He joked around constantly and had a big personality to match his big smile — a smile that lit up his entire face, especially his eyes.
More than anything, Steve poured himself into his children, shaping them into confident, hardworking, and loving people with deep empathy for others — a reflection of his own strength and compassion. He invested deeply in relationships, checked on people often, and made sure those he loved were safe and cared for. He was incredibly proud of who they were becoming and all they were accomplishing.
Steve valued time — every minute of it — and was always present in the moment. He was a thoughtful, reflective man who valued knowledge and sought to pass on what he had learned to others.
Steve was a spiritual man who believed there is more than one way to get to Heaven. He lived with openness, conviction, and love.
He had a passion for the stock market and loved growth — both financially and personally. He believed in progress, improvement, and building something that lasted.
Steve’s life was full of effort, love, laughter, loyalty, and intention. He reminded us to enjoy the journey, because life truly is too short — and there is always a reason to celebrate
Steve is survived by his wife, Shelly; his parents, Ray and Carma Green; his children, Holly (Jasen), Jonathan (Jahanara), Austin (Lakina), Heather (Dalan), and Rachel (Tanner); his grandchildren; Alexa, Valen, Lachlan, Aaliyah, Mason, Ariyan and, Ava; his siblings; DeAnn (Bruce), Lori (Craig) and Darren (Helen); pets; Maggie and Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Nielsen.
He loved being a grandpa and was looking forward to his 9th grandchild, a girl, due in April.
A funeral service will be held on February 28, 2026. Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
